Pastor Susan Stone
A little about me
I was born and raised in Eunice, LA and moved to Tennessee after graduating from college. Even though I have now lived here longer than I lived in Louisiana, I am still proud of my Cajun heritage and try to continue those traditions with my family. I am the mother of 4 beautiful children – my oldest son passed away in 2018, one son lives in Denver, CO, and I have two that live here in the area. In addition to my love for connecting people, I am also passionate about helping those struggling with Substance Use Disorder and am proud of the work I do with Live Free-Claiborne, the church’s non-profit organization.
I began attending the Hill Church in 2017; I was a customer of Eden Floral Design and Pastor Kyle invited me to church. I knew from the very first visit at the Hill Church that this was my home. Prior to being called to be the Connections Pastor, my career was in Human Resources and I held leadership roles in previous churches such as Council member and Director of Religious Education. I now realize that God was preparing me all along for my current role. Paul’s letter to Timothy in 1 Timothy 1:12 describes this feeling perfectly: I give thanks to Christ Jesus our Lord who has strengthened me, because He considered me faithful, appointing me to the ministry.
I give God the glory for each and every blessing in my life. He continues to be so faithful to me! I strive to show the love of Jesus to everyone I meet. I love people and love learning about them – the unique qualities in people are so interesting to me! Being a servant leader along with my desire to know people provides the perfect combination for this journey. It’s all about connecting with each other and connecting with Jesus!
My hope for the Hill Church
My hope for the church is that we continue to lead people into a growing relationship with Jesus, because this is where chains will be broken, addictions/anxiety/depression will end, and true healing will occur. Through a relationship with Jesus, we will see revival in our families, communities, cities, states, nations and the world. Living in a relationship with Jesus has brought me through the most terrible trials in my life. I honor and thank God for any opportunity to lead people on a closer walk with Him.
