Pastor Joe Hoffman, wife Morgaine, and their 3 sons

A little about me

I grew up in Hendersonville, NC. My wife, Morgaine, and I met when I was 20 years old (she was 18) and we married soon after that. Just after the marriage, we moved and settled here in Claiborne County. We have three children, Jayden, Isaac, and Lucas, and love the life God has given us.

I’ve worked in the nursing field for about 15 years, until 2022 when God allowed me to be in full time ministry as the Associate Pastor of The Hill and the Executive Director of Live Free – Claiborne, our recovery program. I am in love with this work. God has given me a heart for those who struggle with addiction, and there is nothing that brings me more joy than to have the privilege of walking with individuals on their pathway of recovery.

Being a pastor is something that I never thought would happen. In fact, I ran from the calling for a long time. It was when I realized that my joy is complete when I see individuals who are far from God move toward Him. I love God’s people and my heart’s desire is to see them in a deep, intimate relationship with Him.

My hope for the Hill Church

My hope for the Hill Church is that it continues what it is already doing. This is a safe place for people who have found it difficult to find a home church. Under the guidance of Jesus, we have become a community that loves radically, regardless of any social or economic background, and my hope is that, through the many decades to come, we will continue to be a place where anyone can come and hear the Gospel of Christ.
